Meet the team
Claire Smedley
Head of Events
I’ve worked in the events industry since the age of 16, at 18 I went to university to get my degree in Events Management.
I have always been active and loved being involved in sports and anything to do with fitness, I grew up playing football, basketball and netball as well as competing in gymnastics and dance. In 2018 I began weightlifting and functional training, and developed a passion for the sport. I joined the GRAFT team in March 2021, and have been with the company through its growth from Battle For Middle Ground to taking on other event brands (Rep It Out, Arnold Fitness Games, NUKU, GRAFT Hybrid and The Castle Games), and becoming GRAFT.
Sophie Laird
Event Coordinator
I began working in sporting event industry in 2015 at British Gymnastics before joining the GRAFT team in 2022.
Fitness & competing has played a large part of my adult life & before working for GRAFT, I’d competed in multiple Battle For Middle Ground events, both team and individual, and spectated at many more.
Alongside my full-time role at GRAFT, I’m a British Weightlifting coach and have coached at my local CrossFit box for the last 5 years.
Sian Johnson
